TAKE ACTION

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

WE FIGHT FOR ALICE…WILL YOU?

New Jersey is one of the wealthiest states in the nation. Yet hidden behind this rosy façade are some households earning above the Federal Poverty Level but not enough to make ends meet. United Way calls these households ALICE, for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. For these households, the struggle to survive has become a way of life. With this level of instability, the prosperity of our businesses and communities is at stake.

JOIN THE FIGHT

As business leaders and concerned community members, you can make a difference by deploying your goodwill and generosity to help stabilize the ALICEs in your life — your friends, neighbors, colleagues, employees, customers, and vendors.

Explore the links below to learn more about the ways you can get involved — and more importantly, make a difference! Let’s get started today…

MEET ALICE

ALICE   is an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, and represents the growing number of families who are unable to afford the basics of housing, food, child care, health care, technology, and transportation. These workers often struggle to keep their own households from financial ruin, while keeping our local economies running.
