Celebrated Author Inspires United Way Women Leaders

Bestselling author and startup investor Fran Hauser shared her approach to working with others, setting boundaries and mentoring with 400 area women leaders at the United Way Women United annual fundraiser on Friday, March 25 at the Bridgewater Marriott.

During the sold-out event, Hauser was interviewed by President and CEO of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Tanuja Dehne.

The premier networking event, which raised $175,000, was focused on helping ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) and households in poverty. Despite working hard, ALICE essential workers struggle to afford the basics.

Suzanne McCormick, the first female CEO of YMCA of the USA, received United Way’s Women in Philanthropy Award. Throughout her nearly 30-year career, McCormick has worked for nonprofit and for-impact organizations which have served ALICE households. Prior to her current role, McCormick was a leading national voice for ALICE as United Way Worldwide’s U.S. President.

The breakfast was made possible in part by Presenting Sponsor Ethicon and Platinum Sponsors Deloitte, GSK and the Williams Law Group.
