Annual Women's Networking Event Reaches $1 Million Raised Milestone
Tiffany Dufu, CEO and founder of The Cru, author of “Drop the Ball: Achieving More by Doing Less” and champion of women and girls, inspired a record-breaking audience of over 400 at the United Way Women United annual “Rise and Shine” fundraiser on Friday, March 24 at the Bridgewater Marriott.
The annual women’s networking event, which raised $255,000, was focused on improving life for ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) and households in poverty. Despite working hard, ALICE essential workers struggle to afford the basics. Since its inception eight years ago, the event has raised over $1 million.
Lisa Hamilton, CEO of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, received the Women in Philanthropy Award for her dedication to ALICE children and families. Since joining the Foundation in 2011, Hamilton has overseen investments to promote community change, create economic opportunities for families and support public system reform.
The breakfast was made possible in part by Diamond Sponsor Ethicon, Platinum Sponsors HLW and Lilly, and VIP Reception Sponsor Deloitte.
