COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE COMMITTEE

CREATING LASTING DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITIES

The United Way Commercial Real Estate Committee was formed in 1999 as a joint initiative between the commercial real estate industry and United Way of Northern New Jersey. Comprised of committed volunteers from the industry and local corporations, the Committee provides opportunities for members to make a lasting difference in our communities. Since coming together, the Committee has raised more than $4.5 million to support struggling families, individuals, and nonprofit partners.

ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT

Each year, the United Way Legacy Event raises funds to strengthen our community and improve life for ALICE. The success of the event relies heavily on Committee support.

Proceeds from the event help put hardworking ALICE households on a path to financial stability. Despite working hard, ALICE lives paycheck to paycheck and is one emergency away from financial ruin.

IMPACT AWARD

As part of this fundraiser, the Committee honors a commercial real estate team and an industrial real estate team with the Impact Award, recognizing their work on a development, project, sale, lease, or other real estate transaction that has had the most positive impact in our region each year. The winning projects showcase an outstanding commitment to the community, whether it is through increased employment, environmental awareness, quality urban revitalization, or other tangible improvements to the region.

JOIN THE NETWORK

We are always looking for commercial real estate professionals to join us in this important work. For more information about the Committee and Legacy Event, email George Xuereb or call 973.993.1160, x117.

MEET ALICE

ALICE   is an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, and represents the growing number of families who are unable to afford the basics of housing, food, child care, health care, technology, and transportation. These workers often struggle to keep their own households from financial ruin, while keeping our local economies running.
