Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay and a Mother's Will to Survive

Join Women United for a Book Club event including a panel discussion of the book, "Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay and  a Mother's Will to Survive," by Stephanie Land.

In northern New Jersey, Women United channels donations and efforts to help ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) and poverty-level women and their families become financially self-sufficient.

ALICE is your friend or neighbor, employed in a job essential to our shared success, such as a home health aide, preschool teacher, or cashier. Despite working hard, these individuals and families are unable to cover their basic needs such as housing, child care, food, health care, and transportation.

This book illustrates the struggle ALICE experiences. We hope you can be part of this important discussion.

Please Join Us!

For more information or to register, please email Rose Twombly or call 973-993-1160 x 603.

There is no registration fee for this event, however donations are always welcome! We are hoping to cover $500 transportation costs for homeless Girl Scout troops to attend our Day of Action event on June 22! Click here to donate.
